The Division of General Internal Medicine aims to fulfill its three-part academic mission of excellence in clinical care delivery, education and research by providing: the highest quality of clinical service, distinguished teaching through innovative educational and learning program development and scholarly clinical research.

By doing so, we support the MU School of Medicine and Department of Medicine missions for institutional enhancement to benefit the students, faculty, patients and citizens we serve.

Division faculty serve as office-based clinicians in the ambulatory practice at the Fairview and Woodrail clinics, where they also supervise residents and medical students. Faculty participate in institutional initiatives related to educational program development, clinical development and educational research that aim to improve health outcomes to strengthen the training of clinicians for the future.

Collaborative research activities conducted with other established university research centers and departments in the health system and affiliated hospitals address clinical effectiveness, quality of care, medical leadership development and curriculum enhancement.

Research interests include improving diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making, improving the quality and safety of health care, medical informatics and interdisciplinary teamwork.

I welcome the opportunity to provide more information about the division's activities and share our vision and strategic plan for the future.
